The Right to Information Act 2005 has been passed by both the Houses of Parliament and received the assent of the President of India on 15th June 2005. This Act is being implemented with effect from 12th October 2005.
The aim of this Act is to provide for setting up the practice regime of Right To Information for the citizens to secure access to the information under the control of public authorities in order to promote transparency, accountability in the working of every public authority.
